Start with the clearest original image
Upload the largest, least compressed copy of the poster, menu, or product graphic you can find. Clear edges and enough surrounding design help AI interpret the font’s weight, spacing, colour, and background.
If you still have the editable source document and its font, editing that source gives you more control. The image text editor is useful when your starting point is a flattened PNG, JPG, or WebP rather than editable text layers.
Select a complete word or text block
Scan the image and select the text you want to replace. You can draw a box manually when lettering is curved, stylised, or difficult to detect. Check the original text field before generating so the intended words are clear.
Avoid selecting unrelated lines or decorative objects. For a price or date, select the whole value rather than a small fragment of one character. This gives the edit a coherent area to reconstruct.
Choose Match original and fit your replacement
Keep Match original selected to ask AI to preserve the existing look. It aims to match visible letter shapes and layout; it does not identify or load an exact licensed font file. Unusual typefaces, scripts, and decorative effects may need another attempt.
Try replacement text of a similar length to the original. A much longer headline may need smaller letters, different spacing, or another line. If you want a deliberate style change, select one of the available font options instead.
Review the whole design before downloading
Inspect spelling, baseline alignment, letter spacing, and the area behind the new text. AI can alter surrounding pixels, so compare the full result with your original instead of reviewing only the replacement words.
Select PNG for lossless output or JPEG for a smaller file before generation. You can continue from the result with Edit again. Each new AI edit uses credits at the chosen resolution; font matching is not a guarantee of pixel-identical typography.
